XYLITOL SWEETENER

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol used as a sweetener in many human food products. Examples  include sugar-free gum, mints, nicotine gum, chewable vitamins, oral-care products, toothpastes and baked goods.

Xylitol is considered safe to humans but toxic to dogs. Ingestion can cause hypoglycemia, liver failure or bleeding disorders. The number of products that contain xylitol in the United States is growing steadily. Other sweeteners have not been shown to cause toxic effects, but to be safe-Don't give sweets to your dog!
