Holistic medicine concentrates on preventing or correcting the cause of disease, not just covering up the symptoms. The goal is to use natural treatments that help to restore the body to homeostasis, and thus, to a healthy state. Holistic medicine is also commonly referred to as "complementary" or "alternative" or "integrative" medicine.
(W)holistic medicine means taking in the whole picture of the patient: the general state of health, environmental influences, nutrition, genetics, mental and emotional factors and disease patterns. A treatment protocol is then developed using the appropriate therapies for helping to heal the patient.
Examples of different types of holistic modalities include Acupuncture, Animal Chiropractic, Chinese & Western Herbology. Dr. Strickfaden has extensive training in several holistic modalities. She was certified in Veterinary Acupuncture in 1995 and certified in Animal Chiropractic in 1996. She has also received training in other holistic therapies including Bioresonance therapy, western herbology, applied kinesiology & muscle testing, orthomolecular medicine, Chinese herbology, homeopathy, flower essences, NAET allergy elimination technique and essential oil therapy.
Dr. Strickfaden offers consultation appointments to discuss and review your pet's history and develop an appropriate treatment plan specifically for your pet.
